On the south side of the Central Park there is a building that belonged to one of the richest men in the history of Loja. Daniel Álvarez Burneo was a landowner and a very rich man who donated his property for education and community centers in Loja.
The Supreme Court of Justice of Loja is located here, and also the government house. Subsequently, the Central Bank of Ecuador bought the building to create a museum of history and culture in Loja. After the restoration in 1986, it became the Loja Museum of Culture. Here you will find examples of tools and artifacts from our aboriginal cultures, photographs of the creation of the Republic of Ecuador and many works of art, such as paintings, sculptures and drawings. The decorations of the house reveal how the people of Loja lived in past centuries.
The Casa Museo de la Cultura is responsible for the network of museums in Ecuador. It offers different workshops and exhibitions, archaeology and ethnophragy.
