The Central Plaza of Loja is one of its most important public spaces, surrounded by attractions such as the Archaeological Museum, the Cathedral Church, and the Matilde Hidalgo de Procel Museum. At the center of the plaza stands a sculpture of Bernardo Valdivieso, a benefactor of the Bernardo Valdivieso High School.
This is where religious, civic, and political events take place. Around the plaza, you’ll find government buildings such as the Municipality, the Provincial Governor’s Office, the Provincial Council, the Episcopal House, and the Central Bank Museum of Ecuador. Nearby the park, there are banking and commercial institutions that reflect the city’s progressive nature.
